We were so excited as we found our first house for rent. We had never lived in a house before and with three children this was a big event in our lives. The house had been freshly painted and the owner let us know that he did not live in town so we were on our own with our home. After slowly replacing all of the plumbing that was in the ceiling of all places we thought all was fixed. We went on a vacation and came home to our porch being wet and it had not rained! Our kitchen sink pipes had burst for some reason and flooded two floors of our home. The central air never worked so we had to replace that,too. When the owner of the house came five years later he noticed that we had replaced the roof! He said that he came with good news he had a buyer for the house unless we wanted it! How exactly was that good news again? After we showed him all of the things we had repaired on the house he agreed to cut the price of our home in half! We got our  home for next to nothing and we could not be happier. We still have the buckets just in case!

When ever you get a group of people together and they start talking you can hear some of the funniest stories of things that just happen in life. We were recently talking about renting and some of the things that people go through when we rent. One story that a young couple was telling was very familiar to me. That proved to be nothing for what we went through that winter. Our heater was running on a constant basis. We had space heaters all through the house as well. We wore our coats in the house! Our dogs had their jackets on as well. I had never believed in dressing your animals before we rented this house but we found ourselves watching them shake one night and decided we had to do some dog jacket shopping. As we were watching a movie one night my wife noticed the paper was actually moving on the floor! We were hoping our house was haunted because that would have been easier to deal with then what it was! We found that through all of the electrical sockets was a breeze! When the wind blew outside somehow it blew inside as well through the outlets! We had signed a long lease so we were in a situation that became very difficult with our landlord. He felt like all houses that are built in this location were like that and we were just naive! We had to cover all of our outlets and run extension cords from the interior outlets so we would not have the breeze! The house temperature became warmer almost instantly. We had 3 winters in that house and it sure made us appreciate our next home!
