We all know that children grow fast but when we received a bat mitzvah invitation for one of our friends children the time suddenly hit us. Our children were born at the same time and it made us realize how much time had passed so quickly. We do not have the same type of celebration that they have but we were excited to attend theirs. It was the first mitzvahbat mitz that we had attended and we were not certain what our role was. When I asked our friends what they needed from us they told us to bring our dancing shoes. Now that is a celebration we can enjoy. There was music and dancing for hours. There were so many pictures and movies of the family and little events that had happened shaping the life of the young person we were celebrating. The bar mitzvah gifts were all on a table when we arrived. We found a place online where you can get bat mitzvah and bar mitzvah gifts. Everything was in order and yet the place was in full swing. It was so much fun. We ate and listened to beautiful speeches from the mom and dad as well as other family members. There were tears and laughter through the whole event. It is a celebration of a child becoming a young adult and as every parent knows it is a time of great emotions from excitement for their futures to sadness of the time that has passed so quickly. I think every parent has that moment when they suddenly realize their little ones are not so little anymore. It is a real eye opener when that happens. After the speeches we once again returned to dancing. The music was well planned to set the mood for each part of the event. It was truly one of the most exciting events we have been to. Every detail was taken care of and every one had a great time especially the child that we were celebrating.

There is no time more exciting then when two people find out they are becoming a family. It is a moment that changes your lives in the most incredible way forever. The one question that comes up right away is, “Are we having a boy or girl?” It was on our minds when we first found out we were going to have a child just as it is on everyone else’. We could hardly wait to find out if we were having a boy or girl. Not that it mattered we were just excited to know who we were talking to through my wife’s stomach all of the time. Of course every time after that we also had the same question for each of our miracles. The question stays the same no matter if it is your first or third. We did not have a gender test for a long time after we found we were expecting but if we did it would have been a great thing to put that question to rest early on.
