There is nothing more important than our mental health. As we age we may find ourselves becoming mentally lazy. This can also happen with younger individuals because of their dependance on technology. Why should we remember something or compute something when our devices of choice can do it for us? One reason this is an important thing to do is because a lazy mind that is not stimulated by memory or exercise will become non-observant and will loose the ability to process things over time. Often this happens before it is noticed requiring the brain to be retrained to think on it’s own instead of relying on devices. When we make ourselves think or focus on something it is improving the abilities in our mental strengths. Consider it brain exercise. There are games on the market today that focus on mental challenges and exercises such as the sudoku puzzles which work within the mathematical realm. Then there is mahjong connect which helps us to think and solve. Even the game of solitaire can be played online and gives the brain a workout where you pay attention and plan. These games join so many others in helping our brains to become stronger and help us to improve our ability to think and focus. We can easily become abstracted if we loose our ability to focus completely. A focused brain is being heavily involved in exercise. The old saying, “If we do not use it we lose it” actually applies to our brains as much as our bodies. If we want to have the ability to remember and focus as we age we have to start the brain exercises today.
