We were so excited as we found our first house for rent. We had never lived in a house before and with three children this was a big event in our lives. The house had been freshly painted and the owner let us know that he did not live in town so we were on our own with our home. We could do what ever we wanted with it and if we decided we wanted to buy it later he was open to that too! Sounds like a great thing doesn’t it? The morning we moved in he came by to let us know he was gone and he did not even have a number we could reach him. That should have been a red flag but we were so happy. Two days later the reason for the buckets in the basement became clear. Did I not mention the buckets? There were more buckets then you would find in a warehouse that made buckets. Slowly we found one leak then another as the ceiling began to leak! The kids thought it was neat that it was raining inside our house instead of outside! After slowly replacing all of the plumbing that was in the ceiling of all places we thought all was fixed. We went on a vacation and came home to our porch being wet and it had not rained! Our kitchen sink pipes had burst for some reason and flooded two floors of our home. The central air never worked so we had to replace that,too. When the owner of the house came five years later he noticed that we had replaced the roof! He said that he came with good news he had a buyer for the house unless we wanted it! How exactly was that good news again? After we showed him all of the things we had repaired on the house he agreed to cut the price of our home in half! We got our  home for next to nothing and we could not be happier. We still have the buckets just in case!
