A lot of use spreadsheets, I personally cannot live without mine I use all the time on a daily basis. With Excel spreadsheets you can load text files via CSV, TAB and other text formats. Makes it easy to create reports. The Excel files uses a file extension XLS, .xls a Microsoft office proprietary binary file format. This file format is known as BIFF (Binary Interchange File Format). A spreadsheet file is an electronic representation of data. Normal data is alphanumeric, along with graphics, charts, and images. Data can be found in individual locations referred to as cells.
Over the years spreadsheets have been used for financial applications. There was even one time when the financial calulations were getting so complicated that the spreadsheet data might come out wrong. Not a good thing for Microsoft. This has been an issue since the use of lotus spreadsheet applications back in the 1980’s. is Lotus still around. Excel spread sheets can compared to databases, XLS files are litel more streamlined for numeric processing. I use Excel all the time as a mini-database.
